Jammalamadugu, a well known name in Andhra Pradesh from decades which is located in Kadapa district. It lies on the left bank of the river Penneru and a 'Mylavaram' reservoir constructed on this river near this town. This place, sometimes referred to as Jambulamadaka, JMD in the earlier records, is the only town in the taluk and is the headquarters. It is almost in the border of three Rayalaseema districts Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur. It is also the headquarters of the Revenue Division and the Block bearing its name.
Once upon a time Jammalamadugu was struggling for development with social evils like riots influenced by factionalism. So far in this Jammalamadugu area factionalism and labour unrest kept entrepreneurs away from our place in the past. Thanks to the development mantra of MLA Sri C.Adinarayana Reddy, Chief Minister Sri Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, a 'Son of the soil' , and the liberal Government funding for irrigation, industrial, education and health projects. Factionalism is now become a thing of the past.
Jammalamadugu has lot of natural resources and great textile sales. Previously it was known as the Faction ADDA and today it is known as the Industrial ADDA because of its preeminent position as the AP's leading developed town in many aspects like Industries, Major Irrigation projects, Eco Tourism venture at Gandikota.
Today, as a large and growing town, Jammalamadugu is home to some of the most well - recognized Industries like South-India's biggest steel plant Brahmani Industries Limited, Dalmia Cement Factory, ICL, RTPP and memorable, historical, tourism places like Gandikota, Mylavaram, Kanyatheertham, Agastheeswara Kona in India. Numerous public sector heavy industries, cement factories, groundnut oil mills, textiles exporting shops are located in the city.
